Standing by the opposite sides of his figure in the medallions in the upper part of the mullion are the figures of Jesus Christ and the Mother of God. Above the saint’s figure is a keeled arch. The icon borders contain frontal images of the saints.

The depiction of the Mother of God of the Unburned Bush shows an eight pointed star made from two sharp four pointed stars with concave ends, from which one is red (fiery) reminding one of fire, as embraced in the Moses vision of the bush; the other is of green color indicating the natural color of the bush, which it protected, being embraced by a fiery flame. In the corners of the red quadrangle are the symbols of the four Evangelists. The Unburnt Bush is surrounded by the angels. On the borders are the figures of the saints.

The centerpiece represents shoulder-length depiction of the Mother of God keeping the Divine Child close to her (iconographic depiction of Our Lady of Vladimir). They are surrounded by the waist-length saints. Above is depicted the Deesis composition with the Savior Not Made by Hands.

Against the background of … Christ is depicted in red and gold robes which is rare in iconographic tradition. He descends into the inferno welcoming the righteous men. He takes Adam and Eve who are down on their knees out of the Hell. They are surrounded by numerous figures of prophets and righteous men. Beneath Christ’s feet is the infernal abyss with the overwhelmed gates and scenes of massacre of the Satan and the Hebrews led by Moses. Among the Selected Saints represented below are St.Catherine, St.Anastasia, Martyr Photius, St. Nicholas, St.Basil the Great, St.John (in ecclesiastic attire), St.John of “the Goldenmouth”, St. Gregory of Nazianzus, Martyr Nicetas, St. Barbara and St.Parasceva.

Crucifixion with four standing saints and four icons of the Holy Virgin
In the center of the icon is the Crucifixion, in the top and lower corners are four icons of the Mother of God: The Mother of God of Tenderness toward Evil Hearts, The Exaction of the Perished People, Virgin the Deliverance of sufferers from misfortunes, Virgin the Consoler of sorrowing people. The crucifixion is flanked by saint Mary, Martha, John the Baptist and St. Longinus the Martyr. On the borders are the figures of an angel, Nicholas the Wonderworker and saint martyr Alexandra. -
A two-tier icon. In the upper part of the icon are the figures of Sts. Pelagia, Solome, Justinia, Christina, Theokla, Martha, Barbpara. In the bottom part are Sts. Cosmas, Damian, martyr Artemius, Theodor Stratilat, George, Michael of Chernigov, deacon Stephan.

The icon portraying Our Lady of Vladimir is placed inside a folding two-leaf triptych with a keeled finial. The upper part of the leaves depicts the Annunciation scene. The remaining images on the folding icon represent a sort of Deesis tier. The finial depicts an image of the Savior Not Made by Hands with the attending Mother of God and John the Baptist. On the leaves are the images of the Murom saints – princes Constantine, Michael and Feodor, Peter and Fevronia. One may suggest from these images that the folding icon was created in Murom or other town, but at the commission from a citizen of Murom. Notably, the Murom princes, in breach of the traditional hierarchy of the Deesis tier are portrayed right after the Apostles Peter and Paul and before the ecumenical and Russian saints. The left leaf represents three Russian saints – Basil the Great, George the Theologian and John the Chrysostom. The symmetrical images of Sts. Peter, Alexis and Jonah represent the traditional, for the late Middle Ages, likening of the three Muscovite Metropolitans to the three ecumenical saints.

Murom’s wonderworkers are shown alongside the saints that are kindred to them in terms of veneration and iconography. The saints are depicted on either side of Murom’s Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in a pose of prayerful intercession with the Savior Emmanuel. In the first and second tiers below are six saints, by three in each tier: princes Constantine, Michael and Feodor of Murom, princes Feodor, David and Constantine of Yaroslavl (left); prince Peter and princes Fevronia of Murom, the righteous Juliania Lazarevskaya, martyrs and confessors Sts. Gurias, Samon and Aviv (right). In the upper part of the left group are St. Basil of Ryazan, an unknown priest and a women martyr. Symmetrically to them, to the right, are two unknown men and a martyr (the inscriptions didn’t survive).

In the centrepiece of the icon divided into four parts there are four events of Her hagiography. Her Nativity, Presentation in the Temple, Annunciation and Dormition. On the raised flat borders of the icon panel are two saints. -

The icon has three tiers, the upper and the lower are divided into three segments. In the central segment of the upper tier is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Mother of God with the Divine Child is to the left. To the right - St.Nicholas. In the middle tier is the archangel Gabriel with the chosen saints. In the left segment of the lower tier is a scene of St.George slaying the Dragon. In the middle and to the right are the selected saints. -

In the centrepiece of the icon is the Archangel Michael in armour with a globe in his left hand. Above him - the Mother of God, he is surrounded by the chosen saints. -
In the centrepiece of the icon Archangel Gabriel is breaking the good news to the Mother of God. And above them in the heaven are the Father God sending a beam of light to the Mother of God, which is a symbol of the Immaculate Conception, and the archangel bending over him. On the raised flat borders of the icon panel are the saints.

St. Nicholas is represented in an erect frontal pose, half-length, blessing with his right hand; in his right hand covered with a phelonion and an omophorion he holds a closed gospel book. In the upper margin, in the center, is the Ethimasia (the Prepared Throne). On either side of the Ethimasia are half-length depictions of the healers Cosmas and Damian. On side borders the saints are portrayed full-length, in three rows, by pairs. In the upper part of the icon are princes Boris (left) and Gleb (right). In their right hands they hold martyr’s crosses, in the left hands they hold up the swords in sheaths tangled with a baldric. In the middle of side borders are the martyrs Florus (left) and Laurus (right). In the bottom stand saint martyrs. Eudokia (left) and Domna (?) (right). In the bottom margin are the shoulder-length figures of Sts. Paraskeva (left?) and Photinia (right).

In the centerpiece is depicted the Mother of God with the Divine Child Who presses His face to Her cheek and touches the hem of Her omophorion with His hands as if willing to unveil Her neck. His right leg is bent so that his foot can be seen. The Mother of God embraces the Divine Child with both Her hands and covers Him with the wrinkle of the omophorion. The centerpiece is surrounded with the half-figures of the saints in the aureoles. The selected saints on the borders of the icon are represented according to the hierarchy corresponding to the commemoration order of the Universal Church during the liturgy (archangels, prophets, apostles, sainted hierarchs, martyrs and others). The most significant figure represented in the central part of the upper border is John the Baptist.

This type of icon (with the Deesis in the upper register and en face figures of the saints in two lower registers) is very rare, even though it looks like a festival tablet icon. The icon was possibly painted using an icon-painter’s manual, from which the iconographer might have copied rare iconographic details such as the backless throne of the Savior and a closed Gospel in His hands. The color scheme with traditional “Novgorod” colors (dark-green, reed and ochre), energetic outlines of clothes and square-built figures betray the influence of Novgorodian icons. And yet, the simplicity of painting, the execution of faces, noted for transparent layers of ochre, and dull colors indicate a provincial origin of the icon.

In the centre of the upper border is depicted the prepared Throne with archangels Michael and Gabriel; on the left border are shown saints Silouan and Andrew of Crete; on the right border are saint archdeacon Stephen and reverend Poemen; the lower border represents martyr St. Theodore Tyron, Venerable Mary of Egypt and reverend Febronia of Murom.

On either side of him are the half-figures of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. On the margins are the figures of the Archangel and the saints.

In the centerpiece of the icon in the prayer of Our Lady “Incarnation” and the Holy Trinity are represented saint prince Boris, priest-martyr Theodor of Keryneia, Mary Magdalene, Equal-to-the-Apostles, and reverend Xenia the Righteous of Rome. Above the depiction of Our Lady “Incarnation” is the Holy Trinity in the iconographic type of “Paternitas”. To the right and to the left of the throne of the Holy Trinity are represented eight choirs of angels: the seraphs, the cherubs, the dominions, the heavenly host, the principalities, the archangels, the angels (the ninth choir is obviously depicted within the Holy Trinity).

Shoulder-length depiction of Nicholas the Wonderworker with the omophorion decorated with the crosses on his shoulders. Saints on the borders: John the Precurser, Venerable Zosima, st. Theodotus, on the right border – Venerable Cyril of Belozersk, Sabbatius of Solovki, Cyril of Novoezersk. -
A waist-length depiction of the saint is supplemented by the large figures of Christ and the Mother of God giving the Gospel book and the omophorion to him. In his right hand Nicholas is holding the open Gospel book. In the upper part of the centerpiece are represented the two groups of saints (three figures in each group). There might have been depicted three martyrs (Florus, Laurus and Blasius?) and three martyresses (Parasceva, Barbara, Juliana?).
