Origin: was deposited from the Solvychegodsk museum of History and Arts (Blagoveshchensky cathedral)
Material: Wood, cut-back central portion, levkas, tempera
Dimensions: height 100 cm, width 79 cm
The icon is painted in compliance with the explicit iconographic variant of “Nativity of Christ” and apart from the traditional depicitons of Bethlehem cavern with Child Jesus in the manger and bowing angels, annunciation to the shepherds, doubts of Joseph and washing of Child Jesus, includes additional scenes: “Voyage to Bethlehem”, “Voyage of the Magi”, “Dream of the Magi”, “Return of the Magi”, “Herod orders to slaughter the Innocents”, “Slaughter of the Innocents”, “Elizabeth and John are hidden in the mountain”, “Saving of child Nathaniel” and “Flight into Egypt”.
