Archangel Gabriel

Date: XVI century. First third of the 16th century.

Origin: Was deposited in the museum in 1889 by peasant of the village of Ivashevo A. Kurenkov.

Dimensions:  height 102 cm, width 38 cm

The icon from the Deesis row of iconostasis. Archangel Gabriel is represented in a three-quarter turn to the left. The archangel is depicted with the usual features: his raised right hand is holding a transparency and his left hand is holding a thin baton. Gabriel is dressed in a red dalmatic with the ochroid neckpiece and the bars covering the chest and the hem which are decorated with the multicolored precious gems and pearls and the tippet with the same pattern. Dark green himation covers the shoulders tied on the neck; it is thrown over the back.
