Philip of Irapsk, Venerable
Iconography: Philip Irapsky, the Rev.
Date: XVII century. 1669
Origin: From the cathedral church commemorating the Holy Life-Giving Trinity of the Svyato-Troitskaya Filippo-Irapskaya hermitage, Cherepovetsky district of the Novgorod region (now Kaduysky district of the Vologodskaya region). The monastery was founded c. 1517 by Venerable Philip of Irapsk (+1527).

A lid of the reliquary. Venerable Philip of Irapsk is depicted full-length en face, dressed in the inner rason, mantle and schema; the fingers of his right hand are folded in a gesture of blessing while his left hand is holding a scroll. In the upper part of the icon is the image of Our Lady of the Sign. At the feet of the saint can be seen the short extract from the life of the saint including the facts concerning the repainting of the icon. Fragment of the inscription in the lower part of the icon: «ПРЕПОДОБНЫЙ ОТЕЦ НАШ ФИЛИПП ЯВИЛСЯ ВО СНЕ СТАРЦУ ФЕОДОСИЮ, ПОВЕЛЕВАЛ ЕМУ НАПИСАТЬ ОБРАЗ И ПОЛОЖИТЬ НА ГРОБ ЕГО: КОТОРЫЙ ОБРАЗ И НАХОДИТСЯ ПРИ МОЩАХ В ЛЕТО 1669. ПАКИ ЯВИЛСЯ ПРЕПОДОБНЫЙ ВО СНЕ СТАРЦУ ФЕОДОСИЮ, ПОВЕЛЕВАЯ ЕМУ СООРУДИТЬ ЦЕРКОВЬ ВО ИМЯ КАЗАНСКОЙ БОГОМАТЕРИ В ЛЕТО ОТ СОТВОРЕНИЯ МИРА 7181 (1673). СИМ УГОДНИК САМ СВИДЕТЕЛЬСТВУЕТ ЧУДОТВОРЕНИЕ ОБРАЗА, КОТОРЫЙ НАХОДИТСЯ ПРИ МОЩАХ. ПОНОВЛЕН ОБРАЗ ПРЕПОДОБНОГО ВО ОБИТЕЛИ ТИХВИНСКОЙ И ОСВЯЩЕН ПРИ ЧУДОТВОРНОМ ОБРАЗЕ БОЖИЕЙ МАТЕРИ, ВО СВИДЕТЕЛЬСТВО ОСВЯЩЕНИЯ, ЧУДОТВОРНОГО ОБРАЗА НАЛОЖЕНА ЛЕНТА, ЯКО ОМОФОРОМ ПОКРЫВАЕТ УГОДНИКА СВОЕГО, И ПОКЛОНЯЮЩИХСЯ ЕМУ В ЛЕТО ОТ РОЖДЕСТВА 1843 НОЯБРЯ 30 ДНЯ».
