The Mother of God is shown lying on the deathbed, the apostles are wailing over Her. Behind the deathbed is depicted the figure of Jesus Christ in glory with the child in His hands symbolizing the soul of Our Lady. To the right and to the left of the Savior are shown the angels, the saints and the righteous women. In the lower part of the icon is represented the scene of severing the hands of impious Hebrew Aufonius. The icon has a specific feature: unusually expanded glorious halo looking like a semi-circular wall relating to all the depicted figures.
