Origin: From the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker in Lyubyatovo

Material: Wood, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 77 cm, width 56 cm

The centre of the icon depicts Christ baptized by John the Baptist in the waters of the Jordan river. His nude figure is shown in a three quarter turn, His head bowed submissively, His right hand lowered in a gesture of blessing. Christ takes a step towards John. To the left is shown John the Baptist attired as a prophet (in chiton and himation) standing on the rocky bank of the Jordan river. He bows before Christ and holds out his right hand to Him as if pointing to the Savior. In the right part of the icon are depicted the angels.
