The Ancient of Days in white clothes with ochre clavus is seated on a high throne. His feet rest on a skewed pedestal. With his right hand he is gesturing the sign of the cross, and with his left is pressing a white half-unfolded scroll to his chest. On the Father’s lap sits Christ Emmaneul holding with both hands a round blue halo (“glory”) with a white pigeon – the symbol of the Holy Spirit. Above the throne back are symmetrical depictions of two seraphim. Beside the pedestal are red winged circles with “eyes” symbolizing one of the “heavenly host” orders – the “thrones”. On either side of the throne are the figures of the stylites standing on olive-brown pillars. To the left is St. Daniel in a blue mantle, to the right is Simeon wearing the same mantle and a blue schemic blue cowl. To the right, beside the throne pedestal stand a young apostle (Thomas or Philip) gesturing the sign of the cross with his right hand and holding a folded scroll with his left.
