The icon depicts the scene of the Nativity of the Mother of God. In the lower left-hand corner is the bed with the lying Anne. Below, in front of the bed is the washing of the newly-born child: the servant with the swaddled child is sitting near the bowl. Near the bed are depicted Joachim and serving maid.
