The center of the icon portrays the monumental figure of St. George almost full-width of the icon. He is shown wearing military garment, full-length, in a frontal position, standing on the dark ground. His right arm, pulled aside and folded in a benedictory gesture, is stretched to one of the border scenes, with his right holding a long sword by his side; behind his left shoulder is a shield. Saint George is young and beardless, with an oval face and a thick head of curly hair (the initial painting of the face is fully lost, his features were outlined anew during the restoration process). The saint is dressed in a rich armor suit and a long red cloak with exquisite pattern.
