Our Lady of Georgia, with Venerable John Climacus

Dimensions: height 64 cm, width 49 cm
The Mother of God is depicted in an almost frontal position. The Child is shown seated on the Holy Virgin’s hand; the Infant Christ has an elongated figure and a small head, with His feet shown sidewise. The fingers of the Child’s right hand are folded in a blessing gesture close to the three-fingers sign. In the upper top corner of the icon, against a golden background, is the figure of St. John Climacus. He is represented in a three-quarter turn towards the Mother of God; his hands are uplifted in prayer, and his feet stand on ‘pozyom’ (the symbol of earthly ground).
