Origin: The icon was formerly part of a festival row in the Cathederal of the Dormition in the St.Cyril – Belozersky monastery.

Material: Wood, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 84 cm, width 66 cm

A scene of Jesus Christ’s entombment is depicted against a rocky background. The coffin with Jesus Christ is surrounded by the Holy Virgin, John the Baptist, Christ’s secret disciples St. Joseph of Arimathea and St. Nicodemus, and the myrrh-bearers.
