Origin: The icon was formerly part of a festival row in the Cathederal of the Dormition in the St.Cyril – Belozersky monastery.

Material: Wood, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 84 cm, width 62 cm

The icon shows a scene from the Passion cycle in which Jesus Christ was taken to the judgment hall of Pontius Pilate. Tied Jesus Christ, escorted by soldiers, is standing before the raised throne of Pontius Pilate. Pilate is shown washing his hands and talking to the high-priests Annas and Caiphas.
